Nescafe Dolce Gusto Machine by Krups | Coffee Talkee

Good single-serve coffee makers, they say, are hard to find. I guess I’m lucky one landed in my hands. if you remember, I recently made a video blog about a package I received from Alliston Peltz. I got Nescafe single-serve coffee pod boxes and a Dolce Gusto Machine where I can use the pods on.

If you remember, a few weeks ago, Allison Pelts and the guys from Nescafe Dolce Gusto, sent me their coffee brewer and some sample pods.

Excited as I am with new gadgets, I unpacked the coffee machine first. and lo and behold, there it was – the Nescafe Dolce Gusto Machine. Although, when I did look at it side ways, it reminded me of the Kiwi bird.

Now, since this is relatively new to me, I gave it a go and decided to list down the things I liked and disliked about it. Let’s start with the Pros:

  • It’s sleek finish and modern design makes it an eye candy to me.
  • It has a 15-bar pressure pump, as opposed to the usual 7. this means there’s more power to the machine.
  • The removable water reservoir and drip tray makes for an easier clean-up.
  • The reservoir is big enough to make about 6 cups of coffee.
  • It’s been designed to be user-friendly. The power button is immediately visible on the left side of the machine. with your cut ready on the drip tray, put the coffee pod into the pull-out pod container, lock it down with the handle, and move the lever adjuster to your drink preference, and you’re all set.
  • Producing frothed milk has been made easy, too. There’s a separate milk pod that you pop into the pod container for cappuccinos, lattes, and other drinks that you’d like to lace with frothed milk.
  • You can choose to make a hot drink or a cold drink, as per the settings on the brew lever.
  • It actually works pretty fast. you can get a cup of coffee in less than a minute.
  • You have the ability to stop the brew when you think you’ve reached the desired amount of coffee.

Now let’s move on to the Cons:

  • It isn’t an automatic machine. in as much as it offers great flexibility when it comes to the amount of drink you brew, and the ability to choose whether you’d like to brew a hot or cold drink, you’ll have to manually start and end the brewing process by pulling the lever.
  • Its flexibility ends at your ability to choose whether you’d like your drink hot or cold, and the amount of coffee you make. Unlike other single-serve coffee makers, the Nescafe Dolce Gusto Machine cannot brew coffee the traditional way. it will only work with coffee pods.
  • Well, it doesn’t count as much of a setback to me, but the machine is kinda big. Standing at 13 inches high, and with a base size of 8.4 inches byo 12.4 inches, it’s not really something that’ll easily fit small kitchen counter tops.

So far, this is what I’ve observed of the Nescafe Dolce Gusto Machine. I’ve still yet to see how consistent and dependable it is as I go along using the machine. if you do have anything you’d like to add about the Nescafe Dolce Gusto Coffee Machine, I’d like to hear it. Let’s talk about it on the comments section.
